Honestly, Hux was curious to see if things would change between them after what had transpired the day after Christmas. He partially believed that Ben would treat the situation just as he had last time and allow things go back to normal. Like nothing ever happened. And that was fine. That was what Hux was used to.
And since they hadn't really bumped into one another, that was the presumption he was going with. He didn't see the boat ride as peculiar. Hux himself had been the one to suggest it, after all. And honestly, it was good that Ben was trying to satiate his restlessness rather than stew on it. Because the alternative to that was tantrums and Hux definitely did not want to deal with that.
So he'd make his way out to the dock in a timely manner, greeting Ben near the boat. He hugged his coat tight around him since it was still quite chilly out. Fortunately, Hux loved the cold, so this wasn't exactly a hardship for him to endure.
It was weird, seeing the area so empty when it had been so full during the party. Which, for now, Hux would try his best not to think about. Because he certainly didn't want Ben peeking into his mind and seeing him kiss Rey. Talk about awkward.
"I've got it," he spoke, his tone far more gentle than it had been on the Network. He took the umbrella, balancing it over his shoulder as he stepped past Ben and into the boat. "I'm glad you finally started taking my advice. This sort of thing is good for you, you know. Even if it's not really the same as flying."
