He was in high spirits and though it felt strange, it also felt good. If this was truly a place he was allowed to have a second chance at life, he planned on taking full advantage. And maybe it was presumptious of him but for once, Ben was hopeful. Though he hadn't heard or seen much of Hux since ...they'd been together, the other man was a constant on his mind. He'd spent much of the week going over it in his mind, wondering what it had meant and what was coming next. Lines had been crossed before but this was different. They were different. And he didn't want to go back to how things were before. He'd already spent too much time denying how he felt and even if he was still trying to figure that part out too, he didn't want to do it alone. Maybe it was a little mean to make Hux come all the way to the docks for his last dessert but Ben had always felt more like himself around water. Besides, there was a symbolic feeling to all of it. A sense of rebirth. He wanted Hux to associate him less with the man he had been before. What better way to do that than with a nice and relaxing trip around the lake? He'd just finished setting up the boat when he heard familiar foosteps hit the water-weathered deck. The wood rattled all the way down to the end pier where he was waiting. With a grin, he hopped from the boat to the floating platform. In one hand, he twirled a dark orange umbrella expertly until Hux came in closer. "Sure you don't me to hold it for you?" He caught the handle, pushed it open and held it out for him. |
