I got lucky with Dimitri. Unfortunately, where I'm from, the ability to restore Strigoi is restricted to those of us that wield spirit magic, and there's not very many of us. But that comes at a great cost to our own health, so we unfortunately can't go around saving all the Strigoi.
Some people choose to be that way for the power and immortality, or they're afraid of death. Some people are forced into it, like Dimitri was. And some people that can use spirit like me, choose to be Strigoi because it completely turns off their magic, but it comes at the cost of their ability to comprehend things like beauty and love. I wish I could save all those who didn't choose it. Some of these people, before they became Strigoi, were genuinely good people.
I was born Moroi. I didn't choose to be this way, so I have to make due with the cards I've been dealt. Becoming Strigoi because the spirit magic is too much, that's tragic and I wish it didn't happen, but it's still more forgivable than willingly becoming Strigoi for the power, knowing you will lose every trace of your humanity.
