"Oh, I don't know about that," Derek said thinking about the friends and acquaintances he'd gained along the way. "For some of us this place has become a home, though a strange one all the same, it's still less troubling than where we are originally from." Here he'd gained a mate and so had his sister, which was more than he could have wished for either of them. "I'm willing to give the place a chance or two," he told Mitch with a small smile.
Derek gave a nod. He understood how easy it was to trigger a negative response from someone, especially if it was about trauma. "So, how about you tell me about?" he suggested, his voice softening slightly at the implication. "Deal with it however you need to, but sometimes talking things over with a stranger can be the easiest path."
