It shouldn't be everyone's pet, Chunk. It should be yours and you should be it's person. That doesn't mean you can't share but the bond is important too. At least, I think that's how it's supposed to be.

I've never really taken care of a pet. The goat back in the Glade liked to try to eat my clothes a lot, but it wasn't really a pet

I'm not sure goats are made to be pets. They're too independent. She was a good goat, though.

I didn't mean...just that this world is as alien to me as it is to the rest of us. I'm used to being the person who knows what to do next, or at least have an idea. I'm a bit lost on that here.

It would just push up against the top of it. Floating things just want to keep on floating. There are probably better pets out there.

Not always. Some animals have been domesticated to the point that they do better when they are someone's pets, and are happier that way.

Really. Jellyfish are rather harmless as long as you pet the top of their "head" or body.
