Again, Castiel was someone that Mary believed she would never see again. She knew that Jack accidentally killed her in their world and that, despite everyone's best efforts, there was no way to bring her back for a third time. In truth, Mary wasn't completely upset about it. She had a second chance at life and that was more than anyone else ever had in this world. She was grateful for the time she had with her boys and with John for that brief moment. She was also grateful for the chance to know Castiel during that time too. He had quickly become more like another son to her and a good friend.
Again, this place blessed Mary with another chance to be with someone she thought she would never see again. She was glad Castiel had agreed to meet her for a drink and cards. She knew he would want to catch up with Dean and Sam first, which was fine. Mary had time and there was plenty of booze in the hotel bar to distract her.
She'd barely had a chance to process the sound of footsteps behind her and make an exit off her seat before Castiel was wrapping her up in a tight hug. Mary broke into a smile and returned it with an equally tight one of her own. For a moment, tears burned in her eyes because she remembered, if not for this place, she would never have a chance to be with Castiel again. She held on to the angel until he pulled back, careful to blink back her tears before they were face to face again.
"Castiel, it's good to see you again," Mary replied. "And no, no definitely not." Mary reached out and plucked the cards from his hand. "I've been waiting a while for someone to bring up cards. I'm glad it was you that did the honors."
