"Do you think your mother would like me?" She asks as her cheeks become crimson when he uses the word 'us.' "I usually do well with parents," she laughs thinking of Matt's mother. She adored Elena. But she wasn't as refined as Elena guessed Malcolm's mother. Then there was that thing with the drugs. Elena hadn't thought of Matt in a long time. Hopefully he'd moved on past Elena.
She feels the tense release from Malcolm making her smile. They both had horror stories for lives, but little did she know that in a competition, Malcolm would win.
The fire made a loud crack, Elena jumped. She laughed. "Sorry, I was so relaxed that scared me," she apologized.
"It was very frightening at first. The first killings in town were by Vampires, ones that killed a lot of teens in town. Elena started shivering with the memory. At least with non-human monsters you can find a way to be safe. I think the human monsters are the worst. I'm glad you fight them." She was no longer leaning against him since she jumped. She hoped Malcolm would put his arm around her.
"Your eyes are gorgeous, but it's the kindness there that really attracts me to you. Anyone can have beautiful eyes. I've seen lots of them," Damon had beautiful eyes, but there wasn't a kindness there like Malcolm's. Maybe it was something else, what ever it was Elena liked them.
She liked Malcolm, that was obvious. She didn't hide it from him. She wasn't coy or teasing, she was just Elena. She hoped that was enough.
