"Wow, I'm impressed. You know smart is the new sexy?" she ventured. She liked Malcolm, that was obvious. But how did she let him know without making a fool of herself.
"That must be a hard job, I can't even imagine," she said as she got chocolate and two crackers for Malcolm when his marshmallow was ready.
"How do you deal with seeing such horrific things? It must take a special person to do that line of work. If you ever need someone … to talk to, I'm here," the beautiful brunette was honest, she would listen to him regardless of the topic.
"I'm glad you came," her hands holding his crackers and chocolate. "I wanted to, I wanted to get to know you better. There is not a place better than a bonfire to get to know someone."
Accidently, her legs brushed against his. She left her left stay there, in hopes he wouldn't move his. She wished she'd come up with the idea on her own. He was sitting beside her after all. That had to mean something.
Smiling at him she said, "I've got your crackers and chocolate ready when you are finished with your marshmallow." She wanted to tell him she had a crush, she hadn't thought of Damon all day long. This was a first for Elena.
