"Why would I do a thing like that?" Donny asked with a sly smirk Mitch's way. "I prefer you in one piece, which means I can damage you myself," she teased gently. "I'm used to you blaming me for everything, I won't notice if you do," she told him with a small shrug.
"I can feed myself, but it's more fun when you do it," she answered. Besides, it showed that he cared, which she needed in this world more than even at home. She had her defenses, but home she could control.
Donny nodded as she moved, always turning each corner with her gun aimed and ready. "It's maze-lore," she explained. "Every maze is effectively made up of one continuous wall. If you follow the wall you find the centre, or the exit," she said flashing a small smile back at Mitch. "I'm aware that this maze might be different, but it's a sensible approach all the same."
As they turned into a long stretch of maze with no exits Donny stopped dead. "No." She said her gun drooping slightly in her hand. "You can't be here. I killed you," she said cocking her head to one side and studying the man she was looking at for signs he wasn't the person she thought it was. Could Mitch see him? She slid her eyes to him to see if this was simply an illusion or something different.
