"It's what I was told it was called. The man who taught me said his grandmother called it her Shine," he started, and then remembered their coffee. "Fix your coffee how you like it, now that the ghost is out of the picture. I'll get mine and we can go sit somewhere else if you want."
He put his hand on Luke's shoulder and gave it a brief squeeze. The ghost was gone. Dan would explain things. Luke could relax a little, hopefully. Then he went to pour his own coffee.
"I can see ghosts. I've always seen them. I'm telepathic, and I get visions. Dreams, or when I'm awake. There's other stuff as well," he said, brushing over most of what he could do as he lifted his mug and took a quick drink. "When I go to AA meetings back home, or I meet with my sponsor, he asks me 'Why did you drink, Danno?', and I reply with 'Because I'm a drunk,' every time. And that might be true. But I'm guessing you'll have a better idea than most about what drove me to drink."
