Kate had found herself exploring the island pretty often. Sure, she could have spent time with Seth, but he seemed to be doing the same thing she was lately and she never really could find him. And when she could, well, it was almost like he was more interested in finding a way out of here than he was in trying to talk to her about how things had changed. Almost like he hadn't wanted to know. It was irritating and she found herself always wanting to just physically sit him down and make him shut up.
That thought surprised her for more than a few reasons, but at the same time, didn't.
She supposed the calmness of the water and the way it was never actually the same was what kept bringing her back to the dock itself, but she wouldn't outright say that. It sounded like an excuse, even to herself, and what did she need that calmness for anyway? If she wasn't prepared to answer her own questions, was she really prepared to answer anyone else's?
To her surprise, however, she found that she was not meant to be alone this Sunday in her musings. Someone else was sitting at the dock as well. Did it stop her from making her way to it? No. Did she actively engage in conversation once she'd arrived? Other than a quick "hi", that was also a no.
For now, she was content to just sit there and, if the other man wanted to talk, she'd actively converse then. If not, who the hell was she to interrupt someone else's quiet time?
