"I don't know, Liz. I really don't." Max responded honestly, never having put too much thought into it at the time. He'd found out that they were going to get into her lab and he sprung into action. What if it had been the wrong decision? What if it really had just been jealousy on his part?
"Liz, I know, you always mean well." He assured her with a half-hearted smile and moved to take a seat on top of the table. "He wanted to know what you were working on and since the security system belonged to them, I-" He paused in thought and ran a slow hand through his hair, his anger subsiding as he had calmed down. "How do you think I feel, Liz?"
Max shifted against the table and turned to look back at her with hesitation. "Technically, when you look at it, I'm the one letting everyone die."
