Malcolm is post-night terror. This time it involved his father materializing in this hotel, something that he fears might become an actual reality. The arrival of a man who had an uncanny similarity to Malcolm's father was enough to put him off. If anyone can come here from any time or place though, it stands to reason that his father someday might. The idea of that is enough to keep any person awake at night.
Wandering around a hotel at night probably isn't the best idea, particularly when said hotel is supposed to be haunted. Malcolm still doesn't believe that ghosts are real though. Despite being magically brought to a creepy hotel through no apparent discernible means, Malcolm draws the line at ghosts.
He had hoped that he would find some tea in the lounge, something to attempt to soothe him so late at night. When he gets to the basement, Malcolm's surprised to find another man in there, pouring himself a beer from behind the bar.
"Uh. Sorry, I didn't think anyone else was awake."
It's ungodly late. He hadn't been expecting to run into anyone else.
