Maybe it was the way he'd said always that made her heart skip a beat, or the way he was just looking up at her that caused her breath to catch. Her stupid heart was beating like a little drum in her chest. Daphne couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious in that moment. He could see that right? That she really liked him? There were stupid rules about that sort of thing. You were supposed to play things close to the chest. Couldn't let them see you were into them this early, at least not as interested as she felt.
"That's comforting to know," she managed a moment later, licking her lips.
"So!" she said a moment later. "Let's get you all gussied up." Finally retrieving the eyeliner, she tried to dig around in her brain for anything to talk about. "So your roommate," was probably not the best subject, but she was trying to calm herself down and she'd just met him. "You get to wake up and look at that every morning." She curled her fingers under his chin to tilt his head back. "Look up?"
