Mal was still adjusting to being essentially stuck in a hotel for the foreseeable future when her father told her he was seeing someone. Seeing someone? Mal knew that her father had barely been capable of getting along with her mother; in fact, he left when she was a child and never came around because of how much he couldn't stand her mother. The idea that there was a woman out there that could hold his attention was incomprehensible to Mal. One in which he didn't fight with or become intolerant of. Mal thought that was impossible. Hades was difficult; Mal and him were both stubborn and equally headstrong. It took a special person to be able to handle them and Mal honestly didn't think that there was someone capable of handling her father, the god, Hades. As agreed upon, the two met up at their shared hotel room and then headed out, taking the bath to the beach and starting to walk slowly along the edge. Initial greetings out of the way, Mal wasn't entirely sure how to brooch the topic of how her dad met the mystery woman called Maria and if there was something potentially off about her. Her father was difficult at his best and fiercely independent; he didn't open his heart up easily. Mal knew she got her own trust issues from both her parents. How had he managed to find someone to breech that wall he'd constructed around his own heart that had nearly locked out his own daughter for good? "So, this place is pretty crazy," Mal said after a moment. Starting off with something they could both agree on seemed like a good strategy. The two had started to fix their fractured relationship when Mal was pulled here. She wanted to continue to do that and at the moment, she was worried this Maria might get in the way of that happening. She would be a distraction, another person Mal had to compete with for the attention of her father...attention she'd fought so long to get and finally had just the briefest taste of. She wanted to keep trying with her dad and she knew he could be in love just as much as she could, but that didn't mean she had to like it. At least, not right away. |
