Mary wasn't surprised to hear that Dean expected Ben to tell him to go away. Dean always believed when he messed up or did something wrong that everyone would tell him to go away, but people had a large capacity for forgiveness than you would sometimes think. Ben wanted to know Dean; he wanted to understand and Mary couldn't blame him for that. "Dean, he wants to know you," Mary replied, touching his face. "That's a good thing. I know it's hard to believe, but people are more capable of understanding and being forgiving than you give them credit for."
Mary took her son's hand. "I more don't you to rob yourself of the chance to be a dad to him. To get to know him. You both deserve that." She squeezed the fingers gently. "Take the time you need. When you are ready, I know you will tell Ben."
