As she walked down the path, she wished for Erik. Why didn't she bring him along? What was she trying to prove. With each step, she became more and more frightened.
On her face were scratches from the fingertips of the trees reaches for brutal caresses. She tried changing to the other side of the path, long fingers finding her again.
She was falling in love with Eric, why did she have to be so stubborn, he would have been there for her regardless of how ridiculous her plan had been.
Continuing to reach out, spiny witch fingers grabbed her pulling her toward it. Brandishing the knife she fought the wooden claws. Every time she hit her attacker, the tree shivered, squealing as it was hit. It was the noise that caught her attention.
The thing coming toward her was nothing she could imagine. She screamed for Erik, as the massive monster gnashed it's way toward her. "Errriikkk," she shrieked, tears flowing down bloody red cheeks. She focused on the chomping teeth and what it would do to her alabaster skin.
Closing her lids, she began to talk to Erik as if he were there. "You do not know what you mean to me," she began pressing up against the offensive tree giving her an extra few inches and minutes of life.
The machine hungry for her flesh loomed in front of her, opening her lids, purple eyes flashed in terror.
