Who: Bonnie Bennett and Jeremy Gilbert When: After their network conversation Where: Her apartment she shares with his sister and Care What: Meeting up.
Bonnie Bennett had more than a few worries on her mind. At the moment, she was juggling her friend’s infection with the more potent, more powerful Ripper virus, Caroline selling essentially her soul to Klaus in order to save Elena, and the arrival of her boyfriend, Jeremy Gilbert. The first two were officially impossible to interfere with except to offer her support and help for whatever happened. There was no known cure for the virus Elena was infected with, especially here, and while Klaus’s blood could heal a werewolf bite for a vampire, this was more than the toxin of the bite. It was mixed in with the original Ripper virus that turned vampires in killing machines… against their own kind. The bottom line? Elena had a desire for vampire blood, not human, and it wasn’t controllable. Just seeing another vampire, triggered the virus and sent the infected vampire into a frenzy. Mixed in with the effects of the virus and you had an uncontrollable killer who was dying themselves...slowly. Elena was in this doomed boat and Bonnie couldn’t do anything. Without her magic, the former witch was merely a corporeal ghost, the anchor, and nothing else. Neither of these things could do much for Elena. It ate away at her. If it wasn’t for Caroline pleading with Klaus for his blood, Elena would probably be in worst shape. Of course, Bonnie didn’t like Caroline making deals with one of the worst things in the world, deals that rarely ended in their favor and with Klaus’s obvious feelings for the blonde, Caroline didn’t stand a chance. Like Bonnie, Caroline would do anything to save Elena though and how could Bonnie fault her what she would have done too. She died to bring Jeremy back. Extreme measures were far from unfamiliar to Bonnie, but that didn’t mean she had to like Caroline setting herself up for God knows with the devil himself.
The latter was a double edge sword in Bonnie’s opinion. While she was glad to have Jeremy here with her for support and strength, she also wished he was still safe at home. Essentially, no one knew anything about this place, dubbed “The Bubble” by it’s new and constantly arriving guests, except that once you were in, there was no leaving again. If there was, no one knew about it or the denizens chose not to share. Denizens that were still very, very unfamiliar to most of one another. She loved Jeremy very much and had lost him too many times for Bonnie to ever think he was ever safe anywhere and now, if she lost him, Bonnie could not do anything to bring him back. Being here, strange place, only increased the chances of something happening to her boyfriend. Though they had most of their friends, Bonnie knew better than to assume their was safety in numbers. Back home, being together, they had still lost people they loved. People still died. No one was safe and while she should have feared for herself, like normal Bonnie she feared more for everyone else and would have done anything to keep them all safe. Giving herself up to death? It proved this point ten-fold, but none of that did anything. Good intentions couldn’t save lives, it couldn’t save Jeremy Gilbert if circumstances went sour and no where was there ever a chance of that not happening.
Bonnie reached for her device, connecting her to the network where all refugees were currently filling it with posts, some had been here for a while like her and her friends and others were obviously just arriving. There was nothing from Jeremy or anyone else and she glanced at the time before clicking it off. She should have gone to him. It hadn’t been that long since their network conversation, but Bonnie was already freaking out big time. How could she not? While most of the people here seemed nice and friendly, good people, she didn’t doubt that there was evil arriving here too or it might have just been here already. The thought of something ripping him apart, killing him, like Katherine and Silas, frightened her very much. Jeremy was essentially human now. Killing him wouldn’t be hard no matter how much hunter training the teenager had. Without her magic, she couldn’t even do simple locator spell to find him and see if he was on his way. She couldn’t save him if-Bonnie took a deep breath and fought off the urge to dial his number. Pull it together, Bon. He’s fine. He’s fine. Vacating the couch, she headed to the kitchen and filled a glass of water from the faucet. Taking a sip, she fought off the memory of turning water into burning, furious flames. Of her magic. Of knowing she was helpless to save Jeremy, Elena, Caroline, and everyone else she cared for so much. Bonnie took another sip and made her way back to the living room. Jeremy would be here. He had to be. Bonnie just wouldn’t accept anything else.
