Elette likewise was mostly unaffected by the wider politics of society, at least for now. Later, when she married a Death Eater that would all be different, but as a student it passed her by. She wasn't a mudblood and didn't have mudblood friends - or at least, didn't think she did, she wasn't sure - but neither was she particularly fanatic about blood status. She had picked up that some people were dying, but it wasn't her or people she knew, so it didn't overly concern her. Or so she thought - if she knew that it was Death Eaters who had killed her friend Regulus, then she would likely have become more involved in the debate. As far as she knew, Regulus' death was completely unrelated to all these muggle and mudblood deaths and disappearances.
Elette had never given much thought to why she was in Slytherin. She knew she was glad she was not in Gryffindor - they seemed to her to be a needlessly loud and boisterous bunch - but other than that had very little opinion. Perhaps in another common room she may have formed an opinion, but as is so often the case with many people, Elette did not notice as long as things were fine.
The Hogwarts grounds were a place that Elette spent a lot of time in. It wasn't so much that she needed to be alone, although she was naturally shy and introverted, more that beinoutside amongst nature appealed to her more than the indoors. Everything seemed so much simpler out here. There was less hustle and bustle, certainly, and less worry. The plants were pretty, the air was fresher, and the creatures more interesting. Thinking that she would take a little walk, but not sure where to, Elette stood a while in the shadow of the castle and surveyed the grounds. Then, she picked a direction, and began to walk in it. Just a few seconds, and there was Barty before her, a Hufflepuff boy in her year who seemed like a nice boy - quiet and dignified, she thought.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" she exclaimed in a soft voice. "Am I disturbing you? I thought to take a walk, and I did not expect to meet anyone." It was a rare talent that Elette had, which made even innocent statements like this sound like a pornographic movie.
