WHO: Severus and Louisa WHAT: another serious conversation WHERE: Spinner's End WHEN: about a week or so ago WARNINGS: post-natal depression
Insofar as Louisa was glad about anything these days, she was glad to be out of Hogwarts, and for Severus to not have to work, and for her mother to not be there all the time, being unnaturally bright and cheerful. Relieved was probably better word than glad. Although not normally a Scrooge, Louisa had not enjoyed Christmas itself, with all of the emphasis on 'family time' and children. She was relieved that was over, too. But school was starting again soon, and they would have to go back to Hogwarts to prepare for it. Louisa wanted to try and make the most of the time left, but she felt her mind uncomfortably dwelling on the prospect, and it distracted her from her reading. It didn't help that every time she looked up Severus was either looking worriedly at her, or looking adorably at their baby. She wasn't sure which was worse.
She sighed and shifted in her chair. Bronte was napping - that was probably the only good thing about babies, the amount of time they spent asleep - and so it was just the two of them in the room. If only she could concentrate to enjoy her book... She looked up to see Severus staring at her. Again. And so she sighed again, and shifted again, and put down her book, looking glumly at the Christmas tree that surely had to be going soon.
