Who: Lucius and Draco
What: They need to have a talk.
When: Now. Or later.
Where: Malfoy Manner
Why: Lucius thinks Draco has had enough time to himself.
For the last five years Lucius had been hoping and praying for his son to recover, as futile and pointless as it was. People did not recover from magical mental harm. But since the injuries were indirect Lucius could not help but hang onto that thin, tenuous thread of hope.
And then a miracle. Draco recovered.
At least that is how it seemed. Draco was no longer incapable of conversation. His thought process was lucid. He was not bounding over the furniture, nor trying to have sex with everyone and everything. But. But he was not Draco. Not really. In some ways he was more like Draco when he lost his mind than he was now that it had been regained. Lucius knew he should be grateful that he made any sort of recovery, but he wanted his son back. He also knew that it was inevitable that his personality would be different after that sort of break down, but he wanted his son back.
In any case, no matter who Draco was now, it was time for him to join the world; he had been coddled long enough.
Lucius had his hand on the doorknob of Draco's room, ready to walk in, just as he always did. Lucius rarely knocked. It was his house, and no one was going to keep him out of any room of it. But on this occasion he hesitated. At Narcissa's request, Lucius had been trying to give Draco the space he needed to adjust and re-adapt to a conscious life, so he had refrained from visiting him in his room. It irritated him to have to knock on the door, but he felt odd just walking into the room of an adult that he did not really know. And it irritated him that he did not know his own son. Releasing the doorknob Lucius' hands dropped into clinched fists at his sides, and after a long beat he raised one and knocked on the door.
