WHO: Lucius and Narcissa
WHAT: SURPRISE!
WHERE: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Dean of Discipline's quarters
WHEN: Late Saturday evening/early Sunday morning 23 February 2003
RATING: It is Lucius, after all
STATUS: in progress
It was sad but true - Narcissa didn't have anything to look forward to. She was just floating, stagnant, out at sea without a breeze in her sails. She didn't mean to act out at Lucius, but when he returned to Hogwarts and left the manor empty she felt just as hollow. Narcissa was numb, dull, listless. She was aware, though, that she used to not feel that way and wondered if the haze would ever lift. The occasional visit to Severus or Katharina was nice, but gave her life no purpose.
It seemed like a past life: happy with Lucius and Draco, planning fundraisers and attending social events. They were always traveling somewhere and now Narcissa had nowhere to go. Indeed, her focus on lunch Sunday was so fierce that she couldn't help herself but wish to surprise Lucius Saturday night. She'd go late enough that he would most assuredly be through with work, but early enough to know he was still awake - Narcissa calculated it to arrive roughly at 1:30 in the morning. If she was this excited to see him, surely he would be thrilled to have a few more hours with her. Narcissa was primped and preened perfectly, and made her way across Hogwart's grounds, courtesy of Filch, and in pursuit of Lucius. She smoothed her hair once, though it was hardly necessary, before knocking softly on the heavy door to his chambers and trying the latch to see if it was unlocked.
