Suddenly Ginny understood the meaning behind Ben's odor, and if glad about nothing else at that moment, she was thankful for his foresight. "That sounds good. The wards end here." Ginny drew an imaginary line with her fingertip through the air over the ground to indicate where he needed to sit.
There was really nothing left to say or do, other than the deed. Ben never liked to talk about his feelings or anything with Ginny previously, and he certainly didn't give her the impression he wanted to now. She didn't want to rush him, but Ginny also didn't want to say something that would upset Ben or make him uncomfortable.
On the receiving end of his haphazard eye contact, Ginny sighed a little and something hard and heavy welled up in her chest. Looking down, because things on the ground were so interesting to Ben, Ginny pushed a few stray leaves around with her toe before some of the sadness became strength. "It sounds...a bit daft...but I wanted to thank you...for everything." Ginny looked up at Ben, hoping to find his gaze. Even though those words weren't enough, they were meant in earnest.
