It didn't really occur to James that he was intimidating. He had a lot of presece, certainly, and he could be scary when he wanted to be, and he could force his will on others with ease - nowadays for good causes like chasing Dursley away, but previously just because he felt like it. But intimidating? Well yes, if he thought about it, he would probably see that. James, however, did not think about it. He just stared suspiciously.
"That's alright," he said automatically, the way you do when people apologise, before you can realise you've been tricked into forgiving someone you didn't really want to just because of a social convention. Well, it was too late now. James' face relaxed with the tiniest of struggles.
"Why don't you ever come round here, anyway? I can make myself scarce easily enough."
