CUT TO: THE NEWS STATION.
JEMIMA JOHNSONERSON: And we hope she finds her lost armadillo too, Andrew. In somewhat shocking news, a short, shocking, video has been circulating the internet since late last night. Amidst the horrifying shots of the riots and looting, Prescott Featherby, an art student living on the Lower West Side, filmed this.
CUT TO: SPOOLED FOOTAGE.
The camera is shaking. Featherby can be heard over the shouts of the crowd some thirty feet away, and his arm comes into view, pointing off screen. The camera swivels as someone on a hoverboard streaks on screen. The man is wearing all black, seemingly armored beneath his clothes, and has several guns and a nightstick strapped to him. He flies over to what is quickly escalating into a fight between a protestor and an pro-government citizen; he disarms them, and then two others who come at him afterwards. Then, astoundingly, he answers his phone, gets back on the hoverboard, and flies off in the opposite direction. Featherby is yelling shocked profanities into his phone. N.B. edit vulgarities before airing.
CUT TO: NEWS STATION.
JEMIMA JOHNSONERSON: Incredible. The video has already gone viral on Youtubesphere, gaining over 2.5 million hits since it aired around one a.m. this morning. Identification of this masked man has been nearly impossible, though Featherby had this to say, on his Youtubesphere response:
CUT TO: FEATHERBY INTERVIEW.
PRESCOTT FEATHERBY: It's the [REDACTED] Black Bullet, man. He's like, Batman, but he shoots people. Except he's good! I heard from my cousin's roommate that he totally rescued her when she was held up last spring downtown. He's doing a way better job than any of these hack cops, lemme tell you.
CUT TO: NEWS STATION.
JEMIMA JOHNSONERSON: Reports are circulating that this "Black Bullet" is actually last winter's "Manhunter," the vigilante who terrorized the city with his prestidigitizing partner-in-crime, The Cloak. Opinions on the duo are as varied and contentious as opinions on the current political debate, though few can argue their methods have never been within the parameters of the law. But this video must make one wonder: have they turned over a new leaf? And what are we going to do about it? Back to you, Tom.
