The last four days had passed by in a blur of swimming, sightseeing, sleeping late, sunbathing, shopping, and (to Hannah's own surprise and, admittedly, delight) a bit more fooling around as well. New Year's eve day passed too quickly, mostly because it was their last day there. Hannah and Wayne had made their own dinner (a definite benefit to having a flat rather than a hotel room) and spent the evening out on the balcony. They'd figured out a way to join their two lounge chaises together so they could lie beside one another, a nice view of the ocean and the clear sky above. Hannah lay on her back, knees up, full from dinner and just trying to relax and enjoy the night. "I hope there are fireworks," she said, "at midnight, I mean." |
