Marietta paced her room a majority of the day, angry that she’d dared to talk herself into going out to dinner with someone that she barely knew. She knew enough to know her mother wouldn’t have approved of her going anywhere with him. She’d had the first semi-normal conversation with anyone in days with Cadwallader. He hadn’t called her a bitch when she spoke her mind about things. She needed normal human interaction even if it was with a non-pureblood boy alone over Thai food. Her mother still didn’t understand why she was so obstinate about the whole Nogtail thing. Marietta had no interest in anyone that would attending that event. She doubted anyone with half a brain would be there.
She wasn’t exactly certain where she was supposed to go but after a few looks at directories she had the general idea. She could have gotten lost along the way but somehow she found her way outside a restaurant that looked the part of a Thai restaurant. She wondered if he was actually going to show up or if this was part of the grand plan on her former schoolmates to humiliate her beyond recognition. What if that was the plan? Stand her up and see her falter. She clenched her fists angrily at the thought of him laughing it up, dressed in pink and actually caring about Nogtails.
No. That wouldn’t fly with her.
She was always early for things. She was always anxious about things like this. She was always thinking of the worst case scenarios. A perfectionist by nature was what she was. It was any wonder that she didn’t end up with major OCD. She tried to look perfect, neat and all of those things but internally she was just as messed up (if not more) than the next kid. She didn’t know what she was doing here. This was all a very bad idea. She just knew it was.
She wondered if she had time to escape. Literally, she wondered if she could run away and make up some excuse for having not been there. If it was some sort of joke maybe there was already someone there taking pictures of her freaking out and laughing it up. Her paranoia was kicking in. She couldn’t help but look around to see if there were any weirdos taking pictures of her when she wasn’t looking. This was why she never went out into public anymore. What if her postules started to come back or something?
