Kimb was so excited to find someone interested in the flat. She was getting worried she was never going to rent out the spare room after her last roommate moved out. She arrived outside St. Mungo's at exactly six and immediately began looking about for her former classmate. She did remember Lisa, but she couldn't remember exactly what she looked like - she hadn't seen the girl in years! But Kimb remembered that she had brown her and a sweet smile and those two things plus the familiar St. Mungo's uniform would be enough to set Lida out in the crowd.
It would be good to have someone in the flat again after a summer without a soul. She hated being alone in the space at night and she knew another human there would make her feel better. Kimb hiked her purse higher on her shoulder and looked about once more, her smile bright and eager. She was so excited! She has a really excellent feeling about Lisa and Kimb couldn't wait to talk to her about it and give her a tour. She crossed her fingers and hoped everything went smoothly.
Training had been a bore. Sometimes, it had the nasty tendency to bore Lisa until her eyelids drooped shut and she found herself drifting off. For Lisa, this was something that she normally had never done back in school. Even in the most boring of classes, she stayed alert for the sake of getting out of there and getting back to her dormitory. Lately, though, she found herself drifting off after only the shortest of lectures. It made her wonder if she was really meant to be a Healer, or if she was only forcing herself to do something she once thought might be what she was meant to do.
So, when it was time for Lisa to leave St. Mungo's, she got out of there as quickly as possible. She was hungry, tired, and most of all, she had to meet with Kimberly Baker, a former Ravenclaw, about her flat. She wanted to move, and the sooner she found a good place to go, the sooner she would be on the road to independence. As soon as she stepped out of the building, she searched the area for Kimb, hoping that she didn't change too much since the last time she had seen her.
Kimb grinned when she spotted Lisa, waving and stepping over to her. She looked so pretty, all grown up and just adorable. Even though Kimb hadn't been a Prefect (she'd had too much studying to do to deal with children, thank you,) she was always a little thrilled to see some of her younger classmates out and about and doing well. She smiled up to Lisa, hoping immediately that she didn't want a hug or some equally awkward.
"You look great! How are you?" She smiled, hitching her purse up onto her arm once more. Kimb glanced at her watch before looking back up to Lisa, very glad she'd worn her heels. The girl made her feel like a carnie. "Come on, let's walk. Are you hungry? There's a bakery near my flat." Kimb smiled sweetly. She sure hoped the girl was hungry because she was famished. "How was training? Do you like it?"
Lisa smiled bashfully when she saw Kimberly. She didn't look too different, she was still short, and the heels didn't fool her. She looked nice, though, and Lisa was pleased to see her looking so excited. She never thought somebody could be that excited about seeing her.
She waited patiently for Kimberly's steady flow of questions and statements to come to an end, and, with a kind little laugh, answered them one by one.
"Thank you, I'm doing well. I am a bit hungry, I haven't had anything for hours. Training has the tendency to be a complete bore from time to time, but overall, I rather like it. How are you?" she smiled over at her, hoping that her answers were satisfactory and that she hadn't left anything out.
Kimb smiled brightly as she answered, glad to hear she was doing well. She regarded Lisa with attentive eyes. She'd grown up quite a bit. Kimb remembered her being much more shy than this when she was younger and she was pleased to see her looking so happy.
"So why are you looking for a flat? Bad roommates?" Kimb queried.
"Not at all," she said. "I live with my family still. I've been considering getting my own flat for awhile, but I knew I wouldn't be able to afford my own flat right now. So, I decided that sharing a flat was best for right now," she smiled. "What's good at the bakery?" she asked.
"Everything!" Kimb said with a grin, her stomach rumbling just before they reached the bakery. She gave Lisa a smile and flushed a bit before opening the door for her. The smells inside were wonderful - Kimb hadn't been in a while and being here now was refreshing.
"I like their soup - they serve wonderful soups in bread bowls and now that I've mentioned it, I do believe I'm going to get it!" Kimb grinned in a silly manner, cocking her head and giving Lisa a wink. It was the little things that really made her happy in life.
Lisa couldn't help but smile, and it was hard not to start laughing. Kimb was so energetic and happy - Lisa hoped it would be nice to live around somebody so happy. It was bound to rub off on her.
"I never was a soup person, but I might try it." It smelled wonderful in the little bakery, and knowing that it was right next to Kimb's flat made her even more excited to possibly be moving into the flat.
Lunch was over too soon for Kimb's liking - she loved the bakery and she never got to stop in enough. But, it was also a good thing because it meant it was time to show Lisa the flat - and God, she hoped she liked it! Lunch had been wonderful and Lisa seemed genuine and sweet and endearing. Kimb knew she was desperate for human contact in the flat again, but, desperate or no, she really enjoyed Lisa's company and she hoped that Lisa enjoyed hers, too.
It was a short walk to the flat and Kimb opened the door for her with a smile. It was on the first floor, which Kimb loved after a long day of work hiking up and down the stairs at the museum. The entrance hall opened up into a sweet little living room. There was a bathroom off the living room and a hallway to the left and the kitchen and breakfast nook were to the right. Kimb showed her the door to the patio and the little garden off the back before leading her down the hallway.
"My room is on the end," Kimb said, motioning to the door just beyond them. She opened the first door and showed Lisa the spare bedroom. It was bright and white, with one window facing the street and another facing the courtyard of the apartment building. "My room faces the courtyard too, and the garden - but I think you get the bigger closet, so it works out," Kimb said with a little grin.
The flat was nice. Honestly, Lisa couldn't ask for a better place to live. She looked around the place with a kind smile on her face. She just wanted to yell out, "I'll take it!", but she knew she had to be reasonable about it and see the rest, and hear what the costs were. She smiled a bit brighter after she saw the room, and especially after Kimb told her that her closet would be the bigger one.
"Well," Lisa said, after she had given it a short, though in her mind thorough inspection, turning to Kimb. She looked around once more and put her hands on her hips. "Should we talk money and rules?"
"Well, the rent is 1200 pounds a month, so 600 isn't too much is it?" Kimb asked hopefully. God, she hoped it wasn't too much. She bit her lip before leading Lisa back out into the living room and offering her something to drink. "And rules? I'm not your mum, Lisa!" she said with a soft laugh and a smile. "I mean, don't sell drugs out of the flat, okay?"
Lisa's eyes widened a bit at the mention of drugs, but she soon smiled and shook her head quickly. "No, no, not at all. I'll sell it on the street," she paused and stared at Kimberly, hoping that she caught the joke. She was beginning to feel more comfortable around her. After a moment, she laughed and shook her head. "I'll take it." she said.
Kimb stopped short and raised a brow at her joke before laughing hard and giving her a bright smile. Who knew Lisa had a sense of humour to her? Kimb loved it and got the feeling she and Kimb would get on well.
"Really?" Kimb nearly squealed. She bit her lip, restraining from hugging Lisa. "I'm so excited? When do you want to move in?" Kimb rambled on for a long while, so glad to have company once again.
