WHO: Luna Lovegood, Rolf Scamander (with slight mention of Teddy Lupin) WHEN: Wednesday 3 December 2001 WHERE: Rolf’s home in Dorset WHAT: Luna and Rolf babysit 3-year old Teddy Lupin and camp out in the living room. RATING: PG-13 WARNING: None. STATUS: Private/Complete
Tonight had been one of the best nights in a long time. She didn’t tend to put one night ahead of any other but it was a lot of fun to have more noise around the small home she shared with Rolf. Teddy was such a dear boy and she’d had fun feeding and playing with him. She still wasn’t completely sure who was watching after who though. He might have only been three but she thought he had it more together than many so-called adults. Age was only a number though. It never had meant a great deal to her.
She was disappointed when Teddy finally fell asleep but she moved a pillow under his head and tucked him in like she should instead of trying to urge him back to life. He reminded her so much of Professor Lupin when she got a good chance to look at him. The messy, magenta hair was very much his mother’s doing though but a lot of other things were very much Professor Lupin! She moved it out of his eyes with her long pale fingers. Sometimes when she looked at Teddy she saw Rolf. They weren’t all that different. Sure Rolf lacked the magenta hair but by they’d both been lost their parents and then there was the werewolf in the family tree for both of them.
“Any more pizza?” she asked quietly toward Rolf’s direction choosing the cut her own train of thought short. They’d done a lot of eating minus a brief pea fight but she was somehow still a bit hungry. Hanging out with a 3-year old was exhausting! She couldn’t really be blamed for wanting more food. Luna was either a garage disposal or not eating at all though. It was never in between. This time is was about refueling. She wasn’t quite ready to go to go to sleep. She didn’t want to ruin her good mood by thinking about how they might not be able to keep in a year from now if he actually got the Elphic fellowship in New Guinea. Asking him to reconsider going was not something she could consider doing. Obviously if he went, she’d just have to go on some adventure of her own. "I believe our playmate has fallen moved onto his own adventure."
