Inviting Lavender to join her for an outing had crossed her mind but then she’d found out Lavender was babysitting Tallulah making her out for the count. She wanted to go grab drinks somewhere but it wasn’t the sort of thing she much liked to do on her own. She liked having a wingman and she wasn’t in that desperate of a need. She opted instead to make a trip to the corner store and grab a few groceries. She always waited until the last possible moment to do this. She hardly ever ate at home anyways. With her schedule, she normally grabbed a bite on the way home or ordered take out. She didn’t eat as much as she should have. The good thing about not living at home or having a roommate was that there wasn’t anyone to nag her about her eating habits. She grabbed a basket, shoving some bread, eggs, various kinds of soup and noodles into it. She didn’t need a lot. She just needed enough to make anyone who came to visit her know she wasn’t starving herself. She did eat when she was hungry.
She gave out some money to the muggle man at the register before taking the brown sacks full of groceries and moving toward the door. It had started to rain while she was shopping and she couldn’t help but frown. Parvati hadn’t brought an umbrella and she was going to get drenched. She clutched the bags closer to her body, her purse hanging over her shoulder. She wished she hadn’t worn her nice clothes out to go shopping. Her silk blouse was going to be ruined! At least her home was only a few blocks away. She just had to keep it together that far. She could feel the bags softening and threatening to rip in her arms. She sped up her step though she had to stop at a crosswalk. Traffic was moving too quickly for her to make a cross over without getting run over.
A cab wasn’t paying much attention to wear it was going or her as it hit a puddle of water, hydroplaning and sending a wave crashing over her. “Bloody hell,” she yelled aloud, attempting to wipe the dirty water off of her face. Her bags chose that precise moment to tear and her fresh groceries rolled to the ground. She didn’t have to look to know every egg was destroyed. “—I should have just stayed at home,” she said to herself as she kneeled to pick it all up. She wasn’t quite sure what she was going to do now! Maybe she should just toss it or pay for a ride home. She’d had an alright day until now. This was just making her angry.
