I see bad times today Who: Rae and Miles Where: Outside Rae's trailer When: Late night
Things hadn't been great the entire day. In fact, they hadn't been great the day before, and it only carried over. If people had been set on edge then, they were in actual panic now. Panic gave way to anger and all kinds of negative emotions, and Rae felt quite like she was walking on eggshells the whole of today. Adding to that the fact that an army of bandits sounded like the worst thing Rae could imagine coming her way and the way of her loved ones, and the girl wasn't doing well at all.
Come night time, Rae had forfeited any progress over her mood and gone right back to sullen and withdrawn again, barely stopping to talk to anybody. It was only because she couldn't stand to be locked up that she found herself sitting by her trailer, knees pulled up against her chest. She had spent a good long while trying to calm people down along with her mother after one doomsayer actually managed to put people in a panic - which seemed to be contagious - but now it was her turn.
A million considerations ran through her mind at once, not one of them pleasant. People were crying doom, calling for separation, calling for everyone to move on for good and all Rae could think of was everyone she loved not being in the same place anymore. Her grandfather, like a lot of other old men and women needed the community, needed them all - even with herself and her mother he couldn't settle properly without more help. And then there were her friends, the family she had collected over the years for lack of a full set of her own, who would be torn apart if this did come to pass, and nothing she did could change that.
If the army did reach them, then things would be even worse. Rae didn't even want to think about it, but now she couldn't help it. When she saw Miles walk past she called out pitifully. "Miles!"
