Who: Rae and Ezra
Where: Meal tent
When: Around 2pm

It was a rare thing for Rae to be like this, even more so when everyone was unpacking and setting up their new camp, and people needed help. She had done a lot of heavy lifting already, setting up her trailer as well as her grandfather's, the chairs outside, then helped a few other people with their set-ups before moving onto the supply storage. All that in one morning, and now Rae found herself not just exhausted but quiet and withdrawn despite her seat outside her trailer. She had become deeply suspicious of the recent turn of events. The only people Rae trusted even less than Diaspora, the only people she probably hated more - which was debatable, of course, but still - were here. Haven soldiers. The council wasn't saying much, no one had any information when she had asked about it in hushed whispers, and now Rae found herself seething at the very idea. Actually seething.

She knew to be still and not try anything, of course, but that didn't mean she wasn't imagining intricate scenarios in her mind. Underneath all of that, or perhaps above it all, she was deeply unsettled. These weren't butterflies in her stomach, they were gnawing teeth and her heart hadn't settled to its normal pace once she had gotten done with her heavy work. It hadn't been that at all, but nerves. On the other hand, she thought, the rumors that spoke of rebellion and unrest in Haven brought her a little bit of joy, if there was any truth to them. She hoped there was, and this wasn't part of some intricate ambush plan that would end up with them all dead. They had moved for that exact reason after all. All in all, her head was a mess, and she twirled the pendant of her necklace around as her eyes fixated on nothing in particular. Whenever she couldn't abstract from the buzz, all she heard was gossip about it. It didn't help. She really tried to be compassionate and, if the soldiers wanted to join them for some crazy reason, welcome them with open arms, but that was easier said than done. Much easier.

Rae's stomach rumbled then, and she realized she hadn't had lunch yet. Despite the rumbling, she wasn't sure she was hungry. All the same Rae dragged her feet off to the meal tent, a lot less packed than it had been just an hour ago, which she was thankful for. If she saw anyone she knew Rae simply waved, a tight smile of dismissal in her lips as she moved with her tray over to the end of a mostly empty table. She played with her food with one hand, chin held up by the other. Still seething and anxious, still not bothering to curb those feelings.
