Who: Liese and Kaylan
Where: Otherworld
When: Evening

Liese wasn't sure about this. Games weren't really her thing for one and for two, there were other things that she could be doing. Studying up on her texts since she felt like she was falling behind for one - she wasn't, but she felt that way - or taking care of her fish for another. And had any of her other friends asked her to come to Otherworld to check out the new gaming place that was creating such a buzz, Liese probably would have told them no. That she had other things to do and didn't have the time to play a game.

But Kaylan had asked and so Liese had put away her books again and gotten dressed and now she was standing outside of the place, regarding it curiously and then turning her attention to the tall redhead beside her.

"I could be reading, you know," she said matter-of-factly. "I'm not complaining about getting to spend time with you, don't get me wrong, but..." Her green eyes flicked back to the building, the people coming out of it talking excitedly, and then went back to Kaylan. "I could be reading."

Kaylan on the other hand was entirely and one hundred percent sure about this. Virtual reality? Being a badass in a virtual world? Hell yes. Not that games were her thing either but the idea behind the whole of Otherworld just spoke to her on a fundamental level. The second she had gotten off work Kaylan had dragged Liese along - who else? - and ridden the trams with a grin that went from one ear to the other.

"Well you can! Virtually!" She replied cheerfully, rubbing her friend's arm. "I mean I'm sure there's stuff to read in the games, in the roleplaying one if nothing else."

Gently pushing her friend forward into the gaming place, Kaylan mused. "I'm going to be a wizard, I think. You?"

"Virtually reading..." Liese thought about that. "Would it be a book that actually existed in real life and they translated into digital print or something entirely new?" That was an intriguing question and she was going to have to figure it out once they were hooked into the game. However it worked. She was a little distracted by the fact that Kaylan was rubbing her arm. Was it just her or was her friend touching her more lately? No, she's always like that...

Liese didn't put up a fight as she got pushed into the building, giving herself a moment for her eyes to adjust. "Uhhh... I don't know... if you're a wizard then I should be something that can fight, right?" Because in her head it just made sense that they were going to be playing together so they needed to work together. "A fighter of some sort? I could handle hacking and slashing something right now." She'd just picture her whole family while she did it.

Well that was an inane fucking question. Even with all the goodwill in the world Kaylan wouldn't have been able to answer that. Furrowing her brow, she looked at Liese with a grimace. "How the fuck should I know, Blondie?" Even what she had said about reading in-game had been a guess - a very uneducated one at that. Suddenly a drawn out gasp escaped Kaylan. "A barbarian!" She whispered, grinning excitedly. Almost immediately, however, Kaylan frowned. "Fuck. I forgot to set us up with accounts, I think we need accounts to play the roleplaying one."

With a sigh, Kaylan looked around, hands on her hips. "I guess we can just do one of the other ones. We can still hit things!" She grinned, taking a lock of Liese's hair between her fingers. "Or you can. I'll find a way to set fire to them, dammit."

"Accounts...?" Liese honestly hadn't paid the closest of attention to anything like that so that was news to her. But then, that wasn't surprising since she hadn't really known much about this place either. "Maybe we'll just have to do that another time, then." She couldn't say she was terribly disappointed. It was, after all, just a game. Probably a time consuming and addicting one that likely would've gotten in the way of her studying. She already had one - admitted - addiction, she didn't need another.

A bright smile - one that other people just didn't see and likely wouldn't believe were possible on her face - lit her face when Kaylaj touched her hair. Like it always did, her heartbeat picked up because Kaylan was touching a part of her other than her arm. That's getting worse lately... Liese shrugged it off and glanced around. "They have games where you can shoot people right? Let's find one full of blond people." Her hand went out to take Kaylan's free one, fingers twining between hers without a thought. "And if there's a way to bring fire into the game, you'd be the one to find it." Liese smiled again before pulling Kaylan with her towards one of the rooms.

It was like trying to play videogames with a newborn baby. Kaylan sighed, waving her hand in dismissal as she made for the reception where they could rent the chairs and pay.

"I'm sure there are games where you can play some kind of super space soldier and shoot a bunch of imaginary creatures but I'm not so sure you can specify the color of their hair." Kaliyo replied with laughter in her voice. "Those have grenades, I think, that's the best I'm going to be able to do."

Not that she minded. The purpose of this was to spend some quality time with Liese doing something fun, fire was optional - not as optional as it would have been for regular people, but optional still.
