Distractions Who: Julia and Rémy When: Evening Where: Julia's place
Rationally, Julia knew it probably wasn't a good idea to invite Rémy over to her place, even for a drink. Common sense told her that she needed to deal with what was happening on her own, and decide what she was going to do about it without distractions. Then again, maybe that's why Julia invited Rémy over in the first place. Because she knew he would be a distraction of some kind.
The envelope Elena Wallace had given her was tucked away inside her desk drawer in the corner of her living room. After Elena's body had been found, Julia had been questioned about their conversation earlier that morning, but she hadn't been able to reveal very much, simply because she hadn't known anything. Elena had asked her not to open the envelope until after Julia left work, and Julia had abided by the plea. Of course, by the time she left work, got home and opened the letter, Elena was already dead.
And the contents of the letter, well.... it was a bombshell. It was tragic, and jaw dropping. It was something that could destroy lives. It could certainly change the outcome of the election. Julia knew she had to go public with it, and she would. Not tonight, but tomorrow, after she had plenty to drink and let it sink in what all this would mean. Not only for herself, but for Haven.
As she waited for Rémy to arrive, Julia pulled two glasses from her kitchen cabinet, along with a bottle of her vanilla vodka. It was a novelty, and cost her a pretty penny, but it felt right to open it now and have a glass. She felt like she deserved it after the day she'd had.
Since she couldn't stop shivering, Julia put a few logs in her fireplace and started it up. If this didn't warm her, at least she knew the alcohol would. The fire had just caught when the knock at the front door came. Julia sighed and stood, brushing her hands together as she walked to the door and opened it to greet Rémy with a faint smile.
