Maggie was happy to have the day off. With the hotel reopening at the beginning of the year after its grand remodeling, things had been crazy at work. She would never have believed that a closed casino/hotel would have so much to do but with all the builders, contractors, and other workers involved, it only made sense she supposed. They had to be paid and the accounting department had to take care of things. Others who had worked for the Sahara had found other jobs, not wanting to wait the year it would take for the renovations to be complete but some like Maggie had been offered the choice to stay since they'd be needed and she was grateful for that. She liked her job and being in a quiet corner office in the basement was good for her on days when the voices were bad. Thankfully today wasn't one of those days and while Maggie woke up at her usual time, she rolled over and went back to sleep. She had errands to run but they could wait. It was rare that she got to sleep in so she was going to take advantage of that. When she finally woke up it was nearly noon and she got up, took a shower and then went out to run her errands. After finishing getting groceries, picking up some medication at the pharmacy and dropping some books off at the library, Maggie decided to stop at her favorite coffee shop and relax for a bit. She was having a good day and it would be nice to just sit down with some cappuccino and read a book. The place wasn't too crowded and she had no trouble finding a parking space and went inside to get her drink. When she had it in hand, she glanced around, looking for a place to sit and spotted a chair near the window. There was a man sitting in the one directly across from it and at first Maggie thought about looking elsewhere but she decided to approach him. "Excuse me," she said when she walked up to him. "Is anyone sitting here? Would you mind if I did?" Maggie thought he looked familiar, perhaps she'd seen him around town or on the network but for some reason she was sure she knew him from somewhere. |
