Registration is open!
Only a little later than promised ;-)
The convention is running from 2pm Friday 3rd October to whenever they throw us out on Sunday 5th October. We will be running the usual things, and if you want further details check under the cuts :-) The website has been updated, and we have some timelines and news for you.
Registration costs £25, rising to £30 on 1st August 2008. Contact us for Paypal details or send a cheque to our postal address. In either case we will require a registration form from all attendees. We may at our discretion waive the form for previous attendees, but you must still send payment either to our postal address or via Paypal. Check the registration page on the website for details.
Your last posting date for registration is Saturday 27 September; your last email registration date is 1st October. There will be no on the door registration without prior arrangement -- i.e. if you are after the deadlines and want to come email us: temaris at livejournal dot com or moonlettuce at livejournal dot com and we will add your name to the list.
Hotels We have been told that The Great North Run is taking place on Sunday 5th October, and hotels and such are filling up very, very fast. The Park Hotel has plenty of space --remember to quote Connotations when booking -- but this may not last. Book your hotel room *soon*.
Single / single in double occupancy - £76 per night
Double / twin / triple - £55.50 per person per night
Day delegate (persons not staying at the hotel) - £30.00 for the weekend, payable to reg desk. This rate is subsidised heavily by the convention and is the reason we would encourage people to stay at the Park Hotel if at all possible.
Vidshow The vidshow has been really good the last couple of years, and we're hoping to see even more entries this time :-)
Claire will be posting to remind everyone what the deal is, but basically, we'd like vids in electronic format; avi is fab, but we haven't yet found something we couldn't play. Any fandom, slash focussed. We would like them by August 31st at the very latest. Please direct your questions to Claire (moonlettuce at livejournal dot com).
The Zine We welcome slash stories (and mixed threesomes and moresomes ;-) in the zine. The deadline is July 31st. Same deal as always: slash stories, any fandom except rps (sorry!). No chan either -- both for legal reasons. As always, please, no domestic discipline -- it's a squick for us both and while we have no issue with anyone writing or reading it, one of us *has* to read everything that goes into the zine. Anything else is fair game.
Stories can be any length; and should be submitted as a text, Word or Open Office document. We can take other formats, just let us know. Stories should be sent to me, temaris at livejournal dot com, by July 31st. If this is a problem, please get in touch in good time and we can probably work something out.
Panels Please feel free to suggest potential panels from now or at any time up to when we start voting in early September.
As always, absolutely any topic is fair game for the convention, from fandom specific to the most metatastic. Technical to absurd. The things that bug you, the things you don't get, the things you wish we'd talk about. It's all good :-)
The Pimp Session This will run as usual, with the sign up sheet near Reg Desk at the convention. AV, powerpoint, mime, puppet theatre and stick figures with explanatory notes have all been utilised, although some of the most successful have merely involved reading aloud from the source material... Plan for no more than five minutes to convince us all why your fandom is the best thing since Jack kissed Ianto :-)
Thanks to interest shown last year there may be an Artshow this year! We are still discussing the details, but hope to tell you more very soon :-)
