I stopped freezing the sink
Who: Elsa and Varda, also featuring Anna via texts What: The ice queen and star-kindler have a weekend getaway, and yet still manage to be dorks When: late jan/early Feb Where: Dubai Status: Complete Rating: PG-13
After a long week of 18 hour days and dreary london weather, Varda was desperate for a getaway. Somewhere sunny, and warm, filled with gorgeous greenery and shimmering pools, sultry evenings and good food. That sounded like the perfect romantic getaway, especially since swimsuits would be involved.
With the help of willing conspirator Anna, Varda had Elsa packed and on her Jet before she even knew where they were going. Which was just how she wanted it. It was exciting and romantic, and Varda couldn't even keep still in her seat. Somehow she managed to contain herself, though, and it wasn't until the pilot announced they were in Dubai that the secret was revealed.
The sun was just beginning to sink below the sea when they checked into their hotel; A lovely arabian style palace that was part of a gigantic resort. Their luxurious villa included a kitchen area and a gigantic balcony; Varda flung the doors open when they arrived and breathed in the air. "What a lovely evening!"
Unknown to Elsa, someone had even managed to sneak a really nice swimsuit into her luggage. But she was adapting pretty well to dating someone, though her favorite date had been make-outs and movie night. It was nice to see Varda let loose and laugh and act like a complete dork. And get dip on her chin. It humanized her. While she still looked at Varda like she was made of stars, she could finally see how human she was. And she liked that part of her.
The flight was fun, if a little anxiety inducing in spots. She’d spent most of it chatting with Varda. Or napping on Varda. She barely let go of her hand the whole flight.
And then they were in Dubai, which felt like the exact opposite of where she belonged but that was okay because it was beautiful and the resort was gigantic and they had their own villa and good god she was alone in a villa with Varda and were they actually girlfriends?
She was alone in a villa. With her girlfriend. Even exhaustion from the flight couldn’t calm her nerves. But she couldn’t help but slip past Varda to rush to the balcony to look at the sunset.
There was no place in the world Varda would have rather been. Right there, watching a gorgeous sunset, with her girlfriend. Girlfriend. It half whispered itself into her mind, almost like she was picking up on Elsa's actual thoughts. And somehow, that seemed right.
It made her smile, and she wrapped an arm around Elsa's waist. "I think after we unpack, I'm going to show my girlfriend off at the nicest restaurant this resort has to offer."
She leaned against Varda, closing her eyes. Varda had been looking extra radiant of late, and she couldn’t wait to see what kind of dress she’d brought for a fancy dinner. Or to show off what she’d bought. Both in dress form and in under dress form. It was a romantic getaway and Elsa thought she was ready for that step. At the very least she hoped she was.
But Varda had just used the girlfriend word out loud and Elsa grinned so big it hurt. “You mean I’ll be the one showing off, don’t you?”
"Oh no, I'm definitely the one who gets to show off, at least tonight." Varda replied, with a low chuckle. She hadn't really noticed her own radiance, and was mainly lucky that with her recent growth spurt she still wasn't too tall in heels. Elsa was glowing and gorgeous and Varda couldn't wait to see what Anna had thrown together for her to wear.
"Though I do have a nice dress, so I suppose we could compromise and say we're both showing off. Everyone else will be insanely jealous. I rather like the thought of it, really. And this place is as private as they come, so we can just relax here."
She still had a good five inches on Elsa, which was somewhat unusual since when Elsa had met Varda, she’d actually been a teensy bit taller. Which she wanted to ask about but was afraid to. But then Varda chuckled like that and she forgot she was worried. Besides, she liked Varda taller.
“How long do I have to get ready?” She had a few minor alterations she wanted to do to the dress that Anna had helped her pick out. With her powers she could make it a little sparklier and a little sexier and she doubted Anna would have a problem with her alterations.
Varda checked her watch, "I'd say we have a few hours before we need to worry about getting anywhere. Enough time to unpack and get ourselves dressed up. We can do each other's makeup, and then one of us can hide in the bathroom so we can both get dressed and surprise each other."
She grinned at Elsa, "I can help you with your zipper. Assuming there is one."
“Yes, there’s a zipper.” Elsa’s skin flushed, her mind going places not entirely safe for work. She walked up to Varda, sliding her arms around her waist, then leaning up to kiss her. “We could do the pool tomorrow… Or maybe tonight after dinner.”
Okay so she was feeling a little flirty. Being alone in a hotel room with a woman as beautiful as Varda made her bold. “Tomorrow might be better though. I have a present for you after dinner.”
"Is that so?" Varda asked, with a smirk. Her arms wrapped around Elsa's waist in return, and she swung the woman around her briefly. That was probably a silly thing to do, but she'd always wanted to do it. Until now she'd never been tall enough. Or in a good enough mood. She felt lighter here, far away from the pressures of work.
And the way Elsa was flirting with her made her giddy. "It sounds like our evening's going to be very busy."
Elsa trailed her fingers through Varda’s hair, twirling some around her finger. Varda made her laugh and it was such a good feeling that it warmed her heart. Her face went a little redder, and she buried her face into Varda’s chest. Muffled, she said. “Yeah, it’s going to be busy.”
Her mind was filled with everything from the dinner to what would happen after dinner. (and she was sure that she wanted to do that this time). She was pretty sure she’d fallen for this star-light woman. “So… Makeup tips?”
For a few seconds, Varda got lost in Elsa muffled voice against her chest, and how gorgeous the other woman was when she blushed. Her mind tried not to sink into the rest of it; The promise of what came after dinner, or what surprise was in store for her. She didn't want to get her hopes up, and she didn't need to be even more distracted.
She coughed a bit, and then nodded her head, "Right, yes... Makeup tips. Your eyes are gorgeous, we should put some eyeliner on you that will make people forget how to speak. And maybe add just a little sparkle to those lips of yours..."
Varda trailed off a bit and then took Elsa's hand, leading her back to their luggage. She'd packed a little train case of beauty necessities, and she it was easy enough to gather together the perfect tools they'd need to get themselves ready for the evening. Her assistant had even packed a small series of hair clips and a curling iron!
Elsa’s dress would be distracting enough, she knew. And a part of her was thrilled with the idea of taking Varda’s breath away. Varda was so perfect. She let Varda lead her to their luggage, a soft smile on her lips. She didn’t know how she did it, but Varda made them feel like equals.
For all that Elsa was a queen, she didn’t feel like one most of the time. “Anna and I used to play with make-up all the time. She was terrible at it.”
"Is she any better at it now?" Varda asked, joking. She'd only seen Anna in person here and there, fleetingly. The girl hadn't been wearing much makeup any of those times, but she was one of those girls that looked amazing without any on. "She never looks like she's wearing any. If she IS, I'd say she's definitely improved."
With one graceful swoop, she scooped everything they'd need up into her arms and carried it off to their gigantic bathroom. There was a huge double sink with lit up mirrors, and they could paint their faces on there.
"Much better. I gave her some lessons." Elsa winked at her, resting her hand on Varda's arm. "I think she's better than me now, especially the natural look. At least maybe that's why she gets so many dates." It felt a little weird, talking about this, and about Anna. Not in a bad way, but in a realization way. Her sister was so good at getting people and it had taken Elsa spilling wine on someone to end up on a date. She didn't know how she did it.
It was nerve-wracking enough asking Varda, who she'd known for months beforehand.
Following Varda, Elsa marveled at the size of the bathroom. She looked at the tub and giggled. "We could swim in that tub."
Varda chuckled, "Possibly. We could try that a bit later."
Her mind moved towards Anna for a moment, and she smiled while she plugged in the curling iron and started placing out pans of eyeshadow, powder, and blush. It was always nice hearing Elsa talk about her sister. There was a warmth there, and it was obvious how much the sisters cared about each other.
Sometimes it made her feel lonely inside. Most of the time she just let it warm her insides up. "Oh there's no secret there. Anna's just an extrovert, that's all. I've no doubt she's got her insecurities, but around people she just lights up. I'm a bit like that, myself, if you get me in a room full of people. It has nothing to do with makeup, and you've still got her beat on looks."
Elsa flushed, which was impossible to hide on her skin. "I've noticed. You can hold the attention of the whole room, and when you laugh, everyone laughs with you." A frown graced her lips. She supposed it was like that as a queen, so it probably wasn't as much of a compliment as she'd hoped. "I mean, in a good way."
She moved in front of the mirror, trying to decide what to do with her hair. She held it up in a bun. "Up, or down? Or in a braid?"
"That depends, are you wearing a sleeveless dress, or one with strappy bits, and is it a scoop neckline, or a deep one, or one of those halter top styles?" Varda took hold of the bun Elsa had created, and gently let it fall back around the other woman's shoulders.
She began to run her fingers through it, slowly. "If it's shoulderless, for instance, you wear it down and loosely waved to draw attention to the bareness and frame your neckline... an up do works well with lots of other styles. The braid idea might work with just about anything, too."
“Deep neckline,” Elsa said, her skin flushing once more. It was difficult to focus with Varda’s fingers in her hair, sometimes brushing the skin on the back of her neck. “Bare shoulders. But with sleeves…” That way gloves wouldn’t look too strange if she felt the compulsion to put them on. She feared for her control, especially the more she and Varda flirted. More than once she’d ended up with iced over hot coffee.
The description sounded gorgeous, and sexy as hell. A little rumble emitted from Varda's throat, and her lips curved into a dangerous smirk. "Definitely down, then. We'll curl your hair softly. Pin up one side with one of these jeweled hairpins, perhaps?"
“Yes, I like that idea.” Elsa grinned, and bounced in place. She always kept her hair so simple, and except for a couple of shoots she’d always done it that way. But doing it special for Varda? That was something she was happy to do.
It took less time than she expected to put makeup on and do her hair, then she retreated out of the room to get her dress on. Blue and low cut, it was already pretty sparkly before she used her ice powers to make it extra sparkly and shiny. With her hair pinned on one side, she waited patiently for Varda to reveal herself.
If by patiently one meant nervous enough that the couch legs behind her were frosting over.
Varda's own dress was of the strapless variety. Made of some kind of white fabric that hung down from her hips and swirled around her knees. The bodice was skin tight and decorated with thousands of sparkles; Sequins, rhinestones, and beads. It was flashy but tasteful, and she'd also opted for wearing her hair down. Instead of curling it, there was just enough wave to make it look like there was some life to it.
She had some silver strappy sandals to wear with it, but the second she stepped out of the bathroom to put them on she caught sight of Elsa, and forgot how to breathe. It was actually a few degrees cooler in the room, but she suddenly felt warm. Her hand came up to fan herself, and she stared.
Elsa’s eyes got stuck on Varda’s hips for several moments, and she absently smoothed her hands down her own. Varda was stunning. The definition of drop-dead gorgeous. Her bodice sparkled in ways that made it hard to focus on any one spot, so she just stared and forgot to make things cold.
“Wow...Varda…You look….” She waved a hand helplessly.
"You..." Varda indicated Elsa wordlessly, though her cheeks did manage a nice rosey blush at the other woman's reaction. She did work hard to keep looking good at her age and she wasn't as insecure as some women tended to get, but making someone breathless was still a huge compliment.
"I hardly remember to speak English, to be honest."
She wrung her fingers a little bit, then smoothed her dress again and approached Varda. She felt like she was staring at a constellation, glittering down on her from the heavens. But she was also learning to take compliments. She said something in Finnish, then added jokingly. “Me too. I’m ready. If you are.”
Varda put learning Finnish on her mental list of things to do, before slipping her shoes on and leading Elsa off to the beginning of the enchanted evening that awaited them. A luxurious restaurant, with a table on a balcony overlooking the sea. More than one person cast them admiring glances as they ate, but Varda's eyes were only on Elsa. With occasional attention to their feast, of course.
She could have sworn at one point she saw Elsa's glass frost over, but the moment passed before she could check again. And it was fair to say that her attention was a little too focused on other things. Like what Elsa had planned for dessert.
There was no denying that Varda was looking forward to that. The thought sent her pulse racing, in fact. When they finally made their way back to the hotel, her palms were sweating and she was filled with nervous energy. Varda was good at acting like she wasn't nervous when she really was, however, and she clasped her hands together as she entered the room. "Well... that was fun, but I think I'll slip into something more comfortable."
Nerves had gotten to her at least once. Hot tea had become cold tea but she’d thought she’d deflected nicely enough. She didn’t know what Varda would think about Elsa being some kind of snow freak. She’d had to tamp down on her emotions, conceal don’t feel, and the gloves had been snuck on when Varda hadn’t been looking.
But she’d gradually relaxed again and by the time they’d returned to their room her nerves had been replaced by an entirely different sort of nerves. She smiled, snuck off to pull out Varda’s special present and disappeared into the bathroom to put it on. It was a corset type number, made extra sparkly with Elsa’s powers.
She stared at herself in the mirror, hands gripping the marble sink tightly enough that ice spread across it and up the mirror. Crap. Elsa closed her eyes, and counted to ten. Everything was fine. Everything was okay. She wasn’t going to ruin their night by freezing Dubai.
But what if Varda didn’t like it? What if Varda found out. Elsa felt a familiar pang in her chest, and tried to slow her breathing. With shaky hands she picked up her phone and texted her sister.
Vardas in the other room and i have her present on im freakingout What do I do?
Anna'd been practically prepared for this moment, luckily, and Elsa didn't have to wait very long before her cell phone chimed.
Okay it’s okay! Take a deep breath, remember to breathe! She’ll love your outfit and she loves you. Nerves are normal I’d be nervous, too!
While Elsa panicked in the bathroom, Varda slipped out of her dress and into her own nightgown. Something silky and long, with just enough lace. It was simple and elegant, and she greatly enjoyed things like that. She took a seat on the couch and crossed one leg over the other, trying not to pace and not allowing herself to get nervous over how long it was taking.
Breath. Breathing. Breathing was good. Elsa closed her eyes, taking long, slow breaths. Her sister was right, nerves were normal, and this outfit was going to make Varda die. She ignored the part about love because she just wasn’t ready to face that yet. Not her feelings, and not Varda’s feelings. Because who could love a mess like her?
Okay Okay I’m going to do this I stopped freezing the sink I can do this next time we talk uhm yeah
She walked to the door and before she could convince herself not to, she opened it. Slowly, she walked out into the adjoining room, and then stopped. Stopped moving, stopped breathing. Just stopped.
Varda was …. she looked so good,so elegant, that Elsa forgot to be nervous.
She finally exhaled, squaring her shoulders, puffing her chest out and striking the sexy pose that she’d practiced with Laura and Anna. “Varda.”
When Elsa stepped out of the room, Varda noticed a few things. First, and most importantly, that her woman was absolutely gorgeous. That wasn't exactly a new realisation, but it was one that beared repeating. The second thing she noticed was that Elsa was nervous, and that was obvious by the overconfident way she was posing.
Sex and sexy things could also sometimes be funny things, and this was a moment that would have had Varda smiling in amusing or even laughing. That wasn't a good idea in this instance, though. It would only make Elsa feel more insecure, and Varda didn't want that.
She rose up from where she'd been sitting and quickly closed the space between them. No words were spoken; When she was close enough to reach out towards Elsa, she scooped her into her arms and kissed her.
She'd just been trying to show herself off for Varda, and it seemed to have the right effect. The tall, beautiful woman was coming towards her, and it was breathtaking. Elsa barely had the sense to get some air into her lungs before she was lifted into Varda's arms and the older woman was kissing her.
Just being cradled in Varda's arms was enough to calm her. The fabric was thin between them and Elsa groaned into the kiss, hands falling to Varda's waist and stroking lightly. Heat spread through Elsa's body, and she felt confident.
It was a mutual feeling. Varda had questioned herself more than once about this relationship, despite how attracted to each other they were. There was always that fear in the background, that she was some kind of predator, or that she'd end up pushing Elsa into something she wasn't ready for.
But there, in that moment, those worries fell away. It was all soft lips and warmth and genuinely good emotions, and Varda let out a low moan. Her hands roamed a bit, exploring the lines of the corset and the skin above and below it.
If she'd had any fears about losing control of her powers, they disappeared as Varda touched her. Varda's hands were smooth and teasing, and Elsa let her hands roam in return, enjoying the feel of Varda in ways she'd only fantasized about.
"Bed," she ordered, before kissing Varda again. She liked being carried like this, liked how strong Varda was and how it felt to be in her arms. Touching her, skin to skin, body to body as lingerie fell to the floor, Elsa forgot her nerves. She even allowed Varda to remove her gloves, and when her fingers didn't chill the older woman she eagerly replaced them with her lips.
Maybe some day, she'd think of ways to use her powers to enhance their lovemaking, but for now, tonight, it was just the two of them. Elsa caught her breath, mouth against Varda's shoulder as she came down from the high, and whispered very low on her skin.
A moment like this was one that Varda hadn't had the chance to indulge in in quite some time. So long, in fact, that there was nothing in recent memory to compare it to, and it was almost like starting over. A special thing to share with only Elsa, whose whispered words meant the world to her.
"Wo ye ai ni," She whispered, in return. She didn't think Elsa needed a translation, especially with the way her hands were so lovingly translating for her.
Elsa smiled to herself. She didn’t need a translation, the way Varda had touched her and was touching her and the tone of her voice was more than enough. She closed her eyes. What a wonderful way to start a vacation.
