Rachel tilted her head to the side slightly and felt the corner of her lips tug almost into a smile. “That’s quite beautifully said,” she replied. “And true. It, for the most part anyway, is unknown, and the unknown can be plenty terrifying.”
And Rachel knew, quite well in fact, that taking risks, especially personal risks, without knowing if you were stepping out onto solid ground or off a curb could be paralyzing. There wasn’t a whole lot that scared her; but fear of that – that she could understand.
She perked up and smiled for real when Abby mentioned that there was someone coming to visit her; someone in a non-professional capacity. “Jason Winter? That’s good. It’ll probably be good, you know. Not to be alone. But with someone you’re more comfortable with.”
