C5 | Raven + Open
An evening with her powers off? Raven was overjoyed. Granted, it wasn’t a good time to be feeling anything but sadness, or regret, over what had happened on the base. And it sucked – it really did – but Raven remained mostly relieved that it hadn’t been one of her friends, especially Dove, who’d met their end. It was an unbelievably selfish reaction to have, but it was genuine, it was honest.
She was surprised they’d decided to go ahead with the whole party business, but perhaps the overseers were a little worried about what might happen if the Supers on base didn’t have some way to blow off steam. To drain some of their anxieties. To feel a little bit closer to normal people again, even if it was an illusion to be dispelled at the break of day.
Raven hadn’t gone wild with the drinks but she was a little buzzed, sitting at one of the small tables set up in the room usually dedicated to laser tag, and watching someone absolutely butcher Total Eclipse of the Heart.
She tried not to wince. But every now and then – how could you not?
Putting her bare hand over her face, Raven sighed. Hopefully whoever got up next either picked a more upbeat song or had some actual singing chops.
