He knew on any given day, any of the people here would have much more of an edge on him than they gave themselves credit for. He wouldn't really last a minute on the field with growing threats of what happened in Saudi. Other governments building their own sort of 'regiments' similar to their own. It made him toss and turn at night or at the very least continuously look at the feed from that mission and wonder what they could've done differently. Anything they could've known to give their agents a better edge against what they had been facing instead of letting the entire mission devolve into the shit-show that it had been. It spurred him to want to be better: a better leader, a better handler. Someone who could've made sure everyone got out of their in one piece instead of having to listen to them fight against people who probably lived and breathed training. Not a single moment unchanged by personal ties or the need to make them feel as comfortable as possible.
Despite the fact that Lucas wanted that for his agents as well.
The situation in Saudi just meant that the thing with the governments and the super powered citizens could turn into something of the next 'Cold War' in his mind. Russia could have a super with nuclear manipulation, China could have a super that could mind control people. It was all thoughts and possibilities that ran in his mind of every minute of every day and America was still in the dark about all of that. Something he could definitely see himself bringing up at some point in the next couple of weeks if it seemed to be getting worse. But those were worries for other days.
His worry right now was training his agents. Even though he could probably find someone more evenly matched for Theodor. The agents did have to know against a highly trained professional, super or not, it wasn't something to take lightly. Powers didn't make a fighter. Technique and skill did. Making quick judgments and assessing situations to make sure they didn't fall prey to underestimating their opponent. Non-supers could be just as dangerous as supers, even more so given the right area and what skill sets they had up their sleeves. An urban background with plenty of places to hide or take aim was definitely more Lucas' forte. Theo had the benefit of being supplied with metal but that could really go so far.
For the most part, Lucas stayed out of sight. Being mindful of the environment when Theo pulled the car door to use as a shield while he moved from behind. Close range would've always been preferable for him. Knives as well but with Theo's strengths also being something that could use Lucas' weapon of choice against him, he had to get creative. Ceramic knives made it easier to keep somewhat of an upper hand and control. Lucas flipped the knife in his hand before flinging towards his agent. It wasn't a matter of wanting to 'win' as much as it was that Theo knew people could always get ahold of their files if they really tried.
