Waverley thought that this place was getting better and better, bit by bit. The other facility had been deep underground and whilst their pool had been a refuge for her, there hadn't been that many people that she knew there, precious few friends because she'd been too busy being angry at the fact that she'd been caught. That she'd just disappeared.
She'd thought about Kyra a lot, about what had happened to her friend. Turns out that capture, capture was what had happened. But she looked like she was doing okay; she didn't look like she'd been locked up in solitary for days on end, or like she'd been put through the training wringer.
Though she did think she was half going insane, sometimes, and so when the other woman responded positively, approached and threw her arms around her, Waverley just hugged back tightly, biting back on the laugh of surprise and delight that wanted to burst out of her.
"Trust us to end up in the same place," she said after a moment, leaning back to press a kiss to Kyra's cheek. Kyra had been there for her at her lowest point, or one of them anyway, had been there when Waverley had to try and learn to navigate the world alone, in a way she'd never had to before, Kyra had become her family when she'd lost everything else. "Are you okay?"
