"The journey is totally sucking," Sandy agreed, wishing that she was facing him because when he kept talking and she felt him shift, his head tip backwards, a frown crossed over her face. She didn't move, though.
It was difficult for her not to react defensively when he said that it was her fault he was confused. Her shoulders did tense and she did start to pull away, to sit up, because how was anything that he could be confused about her fault? But she caught herself before she reacted. It wasn't about her. It was about Cassidy right now and he needed her not to go off like a rocket.
She pressed her lips together and patted his knee. "Okay," she murmured, re-settling where she was. "As long as you're sure. But if I can help, you'll let me know, right?"
She reached up with her other hand and caught his, putting it back on her head.
