She’d said it to Scotty. She felt more out of place without her powers. But it wasn’t only that. It was everything that had happened within the past two weeks. She wasn’t herself anymore. She was worse. Evan said she needed to control her emotions, Dr. Romero said the same thing. She needed to focus on her emotions to be able to get her powers back. It was becoming more and more clear that the more she tried to fix things with Scotty, the worse she made things. She was going to need to focus on herself first if she had any chance of fixing things with Scotty. The pool always relaxed her. The coolness of the water against her skin, as she floated above the top of the water. Her white hair tied into a braid as she extended her arms and legs for the moment. Piercing blue hues looked to the ceiling. “Breath…” She told herself in a cracked voice. Slowly, her lids came closed for the moment as she focused on her breathing. Everything she had researched for getting her emotions under control had to do with centering herself and breathing. Finding a quiet place to do this in. For her, it was the pool and the coolness of the water. “Breath…” She said again, as she listened to the water around her ears as well as the sound of her breathing. She did think about something Scotty said, think about a memory of her life before she got her powers and focus on that. Sy hadn’t thought about her family since she was thirteen. But she tried. Tried to remember what her mother looked like. What her father smelled like. How her brothers use to play with her. But all it did was cause her to sink slightly into the water as she came back up quickly and cleaned her face off of water. Her family was out of the question. But she tried again. Resting on the water once more. This time, her thoughts drifted to the cold and the snow. The way the snow came down over the streets and houses. How each snowflake held different designs. “Breath.” She said softly as she found herself relaxing a bit more. “Focus on your emotion now… Focus… Breath…” She said softly. The techniques she’d read about from various centering sites on the net. She needed to find her center again. From there she could get better. She hoped. |
