Who: Cassidy and Alejandro When: Tuesday evening Where: Hologym - Concert hall program Rating: TBD
He felt lucky that the hologym was free for the time. He'd been working on a song for a while and had finally managed to find the final muse. Of course he could only imagine how it would sound with more than just the piano... But for the time he just played.
The piano started, something passed over him as his fingers struck the keys. There was no one to influence- or he thought as the session was open- but his passion and pain and hope and love and all those emotions he felt were sent out to anyone who happened to hear him. His voice was soft as he started. "They’re cleaning up the confetti. It’s an empty room. Plastic cups in the corner. Many times you have carried me higher up than I could reach, but this time you’re on my shoulders." He imagined the other instruments and back up singers that would be playing in the song as he slipped into the chorus. "And while there’s something to talk about, and while there’s something to say: I promise you, I won’t be gone on the day that the dance is over- I will be your song. Keep holding on. On the day that the dance is over I will be your song."
His voice was soft and smooth and perfect. He'd practiced every day for years and outside of his natural perfect pitch he... he was good. But more than just his ability to sing, even without his emotional projections, he sang with meaning. It wasn't just routine or clinical. He did mess up sometimes, but it was okay because the passion and feeling he put into each word, each note was clear. Especially a song he'd written himself. "You can put away your costume. You can be yourself. There is nothing to be scared of." His eyes started to water as he took a breath. "They can turn all the lights out, leave us standing in the dark, but I’m not going anywhere, love." Cassidy's voice cracked slightly on the last word. "And while there’s something to talk about, and while there’s something to say: I promise you, Iwon’t be gone on the day that the dance is over- I will be your song. Keep holding on. On the day that the dance is over I will be your song."
Tears started to slip down his cheeks, the pain was heard clearly in his voice. "I know the party is over, I know that all good things must end. But I believe there is music in the silence." His voice softened slightly. "And while there’s something to talk about, and while there’s something to say:" His voice filled with passion as he continued, "I promise you, I won’t be gone on the day that the dance is over- I will be your song. Keep holding on. On the day that the dance is over I will be your song."
As he hit the final key and it echoed into the distance he sat there, eyes closed and head lowered. His body trembled slightly and after a moment he wiped the tears from his face. He'd been dealing with emotions he wasn't used to... anger, jealousy, regret, shame... he was spiraling and pushing everyone away. He didn't want to do that, he hated that he was letting it happen. So, he'd written. Ever since Sandy had left his room. Though he was unsure if those that mattered would listen, he worried he'd burned bridges without meaning to.
