Rejection was hard to handle and even worse when it was your family who rejected you. Frankie’s hand pulled away the moment Sandy’s disappeared inside the safety of her sleeves. Once again she pressed her lips together, her jaw visibly tensing. In her absence, Frankie missed so much. Everyone wanted to take the blame for what was happening. Maybe it wasn’t just one person, maybe everyone had a hand in it intentionally or not. Frankie hoped it was the latter.
She looked up as Cal came into view, silently watched as he took Sandy in an embrace. Frankie didn’t need another prompt from Cal and allowed her arms to snake between Cal and Sandy to hold her around the middle, the side of her head resting against Sandy.
