Honestly after speaking to Kelly, Holly felt no better, but she didn't feel worse. She supposed that had to be a compromise for now. The Deacons were such a bloody awkward family. All Southern hospitality and British repression, apparently. Charm and stiff upper lip in equal parts. She just wanted them to know they weren't alone and if they were going to speak to her, they had to speak to someone. She knew Kelly and Chloe had been referred to therapy, but that the psych department was so swamped that getting time in with them was incredibly difficult. She understood that, but she wanted to make sure that at the very least the other members of the family knew there were people looking out for them. Evan, she knew, would have been doing more but he was somewhat swamped with his own team's drama, meaning he had no time to focus on his friends and the people he cared about. She'd swung by Matt's room, the gym and the cafeteria but he wasn't in any of those places, so her last attempt was to swing by his office, hardly expecting to find him there but the door was slightly ajar and the light was on so unless Riley was burning the candle at both ends she figured it was probably Matt. Rapping her knuckles on the door, she pushed it open and walked in with no further introduction to find Matt sitting at the desk, a half-empty bottle of something on the table and a half-full glass beside him. "You know the saying 'it's always five pm somewhere' isn't really an excuse for afternoon drinking," she told him softly, pushing the door shut with her foot. "No rest for the wicked, eh?" |
