Ariel had heard footsteps around her, but she had no idea who it was that was talking. She hadn't met him before, so she didn't know his voice. Dusty nudged her hand with her nose, indicating which direction the person was standing in.
She held the packet up to her face and it was reflected in her glasses. She shook it again, listening to the way it sounded inside and let out a laugh.
"You don't say," she responded, a little deadpan. She put the packet back on the shelf and took a breath, head tilting towards the dog and then towards the person who was speaking to her, though she didn't turn to face him. Not properly, she just turned her head slightly in his direction.
She cleared her throat. "So, is everything on that shelf nut-related?"
