Antisocial. Unsocialized. This girl was going to need a hell of a lot of work if she was ever going to become functional in regular society, let alone on a team in order to do an assigned task. Had the overseers known that, they might have just left her in Alaska. Isi was trying to decide which option would be better for the young woman when she asked about her powers.
"Hmm?" The doctor seemed to forget that her inhibitor had been altered to negate Syreni's powers completely. "Oh, that." She had to take a moment to review her notes before she shook her head. "I'm not sure, dear." The subject was a sore one, that she was sure of, but it wasn't something she was qualified to address. "I think we need to try to find healthy ways for you to cope with the stress of being around a lot of people before that can happen." The way she spoke, the way she acted. It all spoke of how stressed she was when she was close to other human beings. These weren't behaviors that she had due to her genetics. These behaviors were a product of her environment and it was Dr. Romero's job to find out what it was that spawned them.
"I know you've met people that haven't been very nice to you. We're going to talk to them, too. They're not allowed to be mean like that." It was hard to find a way to say that things were going to get better without sounding like she was blaming Syreni. It wasn't really the girl's fault, but she always seemed to assume everything was her fault. "Have you met any people who have been nice to you?"
