The amount they moved him around, Carly wasn’t surprised to hear that’s how he felt about it. Standing still, for someone like Ethan, most have felt unnatural to his core. And if he got shuffled around again – maybe he’d wind up in the same joint as Annie, or Evie, and Carly would stay stuck in literal and figurative Limbo, always waiting for one or all of them to come back to her.
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Oh, please. If you’re making new connections, I guarantee that they’re training connections. Why don’t they just pay you as a trainer around here? Seems like they’d save some time with the whole hiring process. But,” she shrugged, “I’m glad to hear you’re making new friends. So long as you don’t like any of them better than you like me.”
