Chloe noticed the callouses in his hand and wondered how he'd managed to locate her outstretched hand so easily. Maybe he wasn't blind? She kicked herself internally then for making an assumption. And for being so stupid as to hold her hand out for a blind man. He had hands like Scott. More calloused than her brother's, though, like he'd done a lot more with them than even he had. She didn't say anything, though, because it was none of her business and her momma had told her that nosiness wasn't a good trait. Curiosity was fine but sometimes she stepped over into the other and that wasn't good.
She bit her lower lip and withdrew her hand as the shake ended, returning it to the table, curling around the aluminium can and pulling the tab back, her expression falling against briefly as she thought about her mom. When would that stop? She hated it.
"You too, thanks again for lettin' me join you."
She took a sip of her drink and would have considered sitting quietly except she had a nervous energy that meant she wanted to keep doing things because if she didn't, she'd probably just cry. Keeping her mind busy was the best thing she could do.
"You're new, right? Or new-ish? I'm kinda new myself, ain't even been here all that long."
